José Ynocencio Sosa (December 28, 1952 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic), is a retired Major League Baseball player who pitched during 1975 and 1976 for the Houston Astros.
Although Sosa only hit one home run in his major league career, he was the first Astro to hit a home run in his first plate appearance which took place on July 30, 1975, and, at the time, was the 49th player in major league history to do so. Since then, three other Astros have hit home runs in their first at bat, Dave Matranga on June 27, 2003, Charlton Jimerson on September 4, 2006, and Mark Saccomanno on September 8, 2008.
